MoMoPa–AM: Monitoring of Mobility in People with Parkinson’s Disease through Multimodal Analysis

Over the past two years, our team at Sense4Care has been working to push the boundaries of quantitative motor assessment in Parkinson’s disease.

Within the MoMoPa–AM project, Sense4Care, together with our outstanding collaborators (Consorci Sanitari Alt Penedès-Garraf and Asociación Parkinson Madrid), has developed new algorithms for the automatic detection of Parkinson’s motor states, OFF in the absence of movement, dyskinesias, and rigidity, integrating multimodal data from accelerometry and surface EMG.

This led to the creation of a comprehensive multimodal clinical database, combining synchronized biomedical signals with expert-annotated video recordings, which is a powerful foundation for the development of high-accuracy computational models in motor evaluation.

These advances take us one step closer to a personalized and data-driven management of Parkinson’s disease, further strengthening the analytical capabilities of STAT-ON®, our wearable medical device for real-world monitoring of motor symptoms. The MoMoPa–AM project has been supported and co-funded by @CDTI_innovacion through the program ISCIII-CDTI within the Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia (PRTR) and the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

We are deeply grateful for this support, which allows us to continue developing the next generation of wearable sensors and multimodal computational technologies aimed at improving the daily lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease.

Thanks to all participants, especially Ester Muñoz del Campo (Sense4Care), Carlos Pérez López (Consorci Sanitari Alt Penedès-Garraf), Alejandro Rodriguez-Molinero, Mayca Marín, Lúa Márquez López, Irene Gonzalo Asenjo, Miriam Grande Gordon, and the rest of the Asociación Parkinson Madrid team, as well as the neurologists who participated in the protocol Jorge Hernandez-Vara and Dr. Diego Santos García.
